Duality

Though the ISIT Belief System recognizes the Absolute Infinite One as the origin of all Creation, we also recognize that this concept is beyond our comprehension. So we focus instead on those first relative aspects of Reality — IS and IT that we can at least begin to wrap our minds around. That makes ISITism basically a dualistic philosophy.

Now some people argue that dualistic philosophies miss the mark because the origin and ultimate objective of existence is Unity. To these people, it would seem, focusing on the dualistic nature of Creation means you don’t realize or have forgotten that Oneness is all there is. But that isn’t the case for followers of the ISIT Belief System. We Believe in the Absolute Infinite One, and understand that we are all simply little manifestations of this One Awareness experiencing creation from our unique perspectives and constantly tuning in and out of Awareness of our Infinite Essence, even as we spend the vast majority of our ‘time’ being Conscious of our physical existence in this Relative Reality.

Our status as the Absolute Infinite One is eternally and instantly available to us if we only choose to be Aware of it. So we can just relax about that, and quite trying to ‘achieve’ enlightenment. We have Eternity to be enlightened. But we have limited time in Creation to explore and figure out how this thing works. So while we are here, that is what we are going to focus on. Be Here Now.

Within Reality, there is no such thing as absolute Unity. Everything is relative and made of parts. Everything. In fact, you could say that the only thing that isn’t real in this world, is Absolute Unity. So since we are primarily concerned with Reality, Dualism is the closest we can get to Unity.

Now there are other philosophies that hold that a Trinity is the right model, and we’ll discuss those in time. But we’ll continue to hold that Duality is the highest level of Abstraction possible for two reasons:

The first reason is simply because Two is the closest number to One. Again, we recognize that Oneness—Unity is the ultimate destination. And really, Reality is actually the ongoing process of these two aspects of reality coming together and engaging to basically simulate the state of Oneness. But that is a messy process. So when it comes to focusing on Absolute concepts that we can actually talk about, Duality is the best we can hope to do.

The second reason is the shear preponderance of dualities everywhere we look in the natural Universe. We see almost every living creature on Earth with bilateral bodies, meaning each side is a mirror image of the other. And the higher order you go the more dualities you see. Humans have have two arms, two legs, two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, two lungs, etc. etc. There’s the brain/heart duality. And of course there’s the male/female duality.
In philosophy there’s the good and evil, yin and yang, mind and body.

And look at the laws of nature: electromagnetism, protons and neutrons, nucleus and electrons, waves and particles, etc. And it isn’t limited to the small stuff. Stars, planets and moons orbit each other in elliptical orbits, not circular. That means they orbit around two focus points, not one.

Well, I could go on and on. But I’m sure you get the point. Duality is the highest possible level of Abstraction that we can work with. So that’s where we’re going to start.
